District Information Services Council (DISC)

With a view to constituting the District Information Services Council (DISC) to pursue' the 'dvera11 activities and promotion of the Information Technology in the State and to provide for a coordinating agency at the District level, the State Government do hereby frame a Council namely, DISTRICT INFORMATION SERVICES COUNCIL (DISC), 2006.

Aims and objectives of the Council

(a) Promote IT usage and bridge the digital divide between regions, peoples and classes within the District.

(b) Plan, implement and promote the activities of the State Portal in the District.

(d) Promote electronic delivery of citizen's services.

(e) Facilitate and promote interaction and synergy amongst various stake holders including line departments and NGOs in the use of ICT for e-Governance and Good Governance.

(f) Support preparation and implementation of information management plans by different line departments and other organizations in the District.

The District Information Services Council was registered on 30/12/2006 and stationed at Bargarh.

The 1^st Governing Body meeting of District Information Services Council, Bargarh held on 21/12/2006. The meeting was presided over by Sri H.H Panigrahy, IAS, Collector, Bargarh.

DIO, NIC, Bargarh explained to the constitution of DISC, Bargarh is to pursue overall activities and promotion of Information Technology in the Bargarh District and to provide a coordinating agency at the district level. It was decided in the meeting that as per the meeting that as per the Notification No ITC-48/05(pt)-1480/IT dated 03/06/2006 of Government of Orissa, Information Technology Department, Bhubaneswar, the DISC, Bargarh has to be registered under the Society Registration Act, 1860.

The 2^nd Executive Body meeting of District Information Services, Bargarh held on 17/09/2007. The Collector-cum-Chairman, DISC, Bargarh apprised the members that the DISC should aim at providing Touch Screen facility for public in the Collectorate premises where from people will be able to know various information about the district.

The 3^rd Executive Body meeting of District Information Services Council, Bargarh held on 20/03/2008. The meeting was presided over by Sri H.h Panigrahy, IAS, Collector-cum-Chairman, DISC, Bargarh. The Collector-cum-Chairman, DISC, Bargarh informed about the sad demise of Sri R.K Pradhan, DIO-cum-Executive Secretary, DISC, Bargarh on 14/01/2008 and requested the members to observe one minute silence for the rest the sole in eternal peace.
